ASD Welfare Trust Karachi has celebrated World Autism Awareness Month in collaboration with Sir CJ Institute of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in Hyderabad on 19th April, 2025. The event was graced by Dr. Karim Ahmed, Chairman of the Sindh Mental Health Authority, as the Guest of Honor.
Keynote Speakers:
The conference featured keynote speakers who shared their expertise on various aspects of autism. Dr. Salma Khalil, COO of ASDWT, presented on “Autism and Challenges,” while Dr. Muniza Malik, Professor of Psychology, and Dr. Marvi Panwher, Clinical Psychologist, discussed “Understanding Autism.” Dr. Nisar Ahmed Sohoo, Representative of CJIP, highlighted the institute’s contributions to mental health and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Mr. Jhamandas Rathi from the Directorate of Education and Primary Development Department (DEPD), Sindh, emphasized the importance of inclusive education and its prospects in today’s world.
Panel Discussion and Awareness Initiatives:
A panel discussion featuring experts from various fields, including psychology, pediatrics, psychiatry, and special education, provided valuable insights and answered questions from the audience. The panelists included Dr. Irfana Shah, Dr. Hanif Kashtiwala, Dr. S. Qalb-I-Hyder, Dr. Fozia Baloch, Dr. Mahnoor Samoo, and Ms. Alliya Batool Haidery.
The conference also featured stalls from organizations such as Pakistan Center for Autism, Batool Academy Hyderabad, Desert Hawk Special Children School, and Genius World School, which aimed to raise awareness about autism and promote inclusion.
